Planning Matters

PlansPlanning consent is required before most forms of development can be legally undertaken.

Development is defined in The Town and Country Planning Act, 1990 as “the carrying out of building, engineering, mining or other operations in, on, over or under land, or the making of any material change in the use of any buildings or other land.”.

Residents can visit the borough council offices and informally meet a planning officer for advice and guidance but general information, as well as a searchable database of planning applications (with viewable related documentation), can also be found at www.basingstoke.gov.uk

The Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council website also has lots of general planning information which may prove useful to you.

Planning application that are in progress are also printed in The Villager.  Visit the Villager Community Newsletters page of this website to view online copies.

You can also email the clerk Sue Lefley or telephone her on 01256 464923.
